Organic Cow Manure Bag 9 kg

Organic Cow Manure Substrate for Mushroom Cultivation

-This listing is for raw, 12 months aged cow manure with no amendment. The substrate may need to be mixed with coco, vermiculite to improve water retention and sterelised before using it for indoor grow. The manure is fine to be used as fertiliser straight up  for plants .

Important- We may make. aslight hole in the bag as the microbes release volatile air especially in hot weather and the bag may expand and burst, so breathability of the bag is essential as well as storage.Dark cool spot away from light.

Product Description:

Our Organic Cow Manure Substrate is a nutrient-rich bulk growing medium  for the high-yield indoor cultivation of dung-loving mushroom species . Sourced from organically raised cattle, this substrate provides the essential food and water source your mycelium needs to thrive.

Key Features and Benefits:

Cow manure is a traditional and highly effective substrate, naturally packed with the essential nitrogen, minerals, and organic compounds vital for robust mycelial colonisation and increased fruiting yields.Substrate is supposed to be prepared with materials like Coco Coir and Vermiculite (CVG) to achieve “Field Capacity”—the perfect balance of water retention and aeration necessary to prevent water logging and promote vigorous growth.Derived from cows fed organic feed, free from synthetic chemicals, pesticides, or non-organic residues, ensuring a clean and natural product for your organic cultivation needs.

Outdoor Use: The naturally composted and aged manure can be used for outdoor beds.
Indoor Use (Important): For controlled indoor cultivation, this substrate needs to be Sterilised using high heat and pressure (typically 15 PSI in a autoclave) to eliminate all competing molds, bacteria, and spore contaminants. This ensures your mushroom spawn (mycelium) has a clean, uncontested environment to colonise and fruit successfully.

Ideal For:

Mushroom cultivators seeking a highly productive, manure-based bulk substrate.
Growing dung-loving species in a controlled indoor environment.
Use as a high-nutrition amendment when mixing custom substrates.

Directions for Indoor Use:

Inoculation: In a clean, sterile environment (such as a Still Air Box or in front of a laminar flow hood), mix your fully colonised grain spawn with the sterile cow manure +Gypsum+Coco+Vermiculite substrate.
Incubation: Place the mixture in a controlled environment to allow the mycelium to fully colonise the substrate.
Fruiting: Introduce fruiting conditions (light, humidity, temperature) and watch your high-yield harvest begin!, typically done in a monotub like Inflatable or Max Yield tub.

Safety Note: Always maintain strict sterile practices when handling, inoculating, and mixing this substrate for indoor mushroom farming to ensure success and prevent contamination.Product must be handled correctly with gloves and mask, The product may have off putting smell .Do not expose to moisture or direct sun.

Designed for Experienced Indoor Mushroom Growers

This advanced manure substrate blend is engineered specifically for experienced cultivators seeking high yields from dung-loving species. It offers a nutrient-rich base to support vigorous fruiting but requires precision, proper technique, and a deep understanding of substrate management.

Why Choose This Blend?

While horse manure is our top choice due to its superior fiber content, composted cow manure serves as an excellent alternative. This formula is optimised for potency and performance, but it’s not beginner-friendly due to its complexity and contamination risk.

If using this substrate for Portobello or Almond, you may need further composting and amendments like straw.

Full Recipe (Approx. 2 kg Yield):

• 550 g – Composted Horse or Cow Manure

• 100 g – Coco Coir

• 140 g – Vermiculite

• 28 g – Gypsum

• Water: Start with 1100 ml, and gradually increase up to 1300 ml as needed to reach field capacity.

Hydration is critical: Manure varies in water content, so you must test for field capacity and adjust accordingly.

Important Notes for Success:

• Higher Contamination Risk: Due to the richness of this blend, contamination is more likely. Proper sterilisation and clean handling are essential.

• Slower Colonisation: Nutrient density slows mycelial growth. Compensate with a higher spawn-to-substrate ratio for optimal colonisation speed.

• Not for Beginners: We strongly recommend new growers start with our simpler CVG (Coco Coir, Vermiculite, Gypsum) monotub substrate before attempting this advanced mix.

• Tested with Rootlab Materials: This recipe was developed using Rootlab’s manure and component(CVg, Gypsum and Vermiculite). Substitutions with other brand is fine but the ratio would need to be adjusted to get the correct texture, ph, hydration, So please do not follow this recipe exactly. Making the right textured substrate requires some experience.

Level Up Your Grow

This high-performance substrate is perfect for cultivators ready to take their skills to the next level. With precise hydration, careful handling, and the right spawn ratio, it can yield exceptional flushes from demanding species.
