Laboratory Orbital Shaker | 200RPM | 220V | AU Plug

Designed for cultivators and researchers who need consistent, gentle agitation for live fungal cultures. Whether you’re propagating liquid culture, maintaining cell suspensions, or preparing reagents, this orbital shaker covers the full range of everyday mycology lab work.

Magnetic stirrers are a common starting point, but they introduce a critical problem for live cultures: shear stress. As the stir bar spins, it physically crushes mycelium against the glass floor, causing mechanical trauma that can reduce viability or kill the culture entirely. Orbital motion solves this by moving the entire platform in a continuous horizontal orbit, so the liquid travels as a single cohesive body. Rather than destroying hyphal networks, this gentle kinetic energy encourages mycelium to fragment into small, healthy micro-colonies, giving you a clean, easily syringe-able culture rather than an unworkable mat.

The gas exchange benefit is just as significant. A magnetic stirrer produces a localised vortex with limited surface area. An orbital shaker generates a swirling wave that continuously coats the flask walls with a thin film of liquid, dramatically increasing the surface area available for oxygen absorption and CO2 expulsion. Mycelium is aerobic, and this constant gas exchange translates directly into faster colonisation times and more vigorous cultures.

For best results, pair this shaker with baffled conical flasks. The moulded glass fins disrupt the circular flow, creating turbulence that keeps mycelium in a pelletised state ideal for syringing, while the splashing action continuously folds the liquid to pull oxygen from the headspace into the broth.

The adjustable speed from 200 rpm gives you precise control over agitation intensity to match different culture stages, and the clear digital display lets you monitor and hold your target speed at a glance. Run multiple flasks simultaneously to suit the multi-vessel workflow most cultivators rely on.

Dual voltage compatibility (110V/220V) means it works straight out of the box in any setting. Its compact footprint keeps bench space clear, and the robust construction is built to handle continuous lab operation.
